Laura Abercrombie is a visual artist based in Kincardine, Ontario, Canada whose work is a dialogue between memory and landscape. Rooted in the natural beauty of her childhood home in Inverhuron, Laura's abstract watercolors capture the fluid essence of watery scenes and the rugged textures of the shoreline. Her compositions are built through a dynamic interplay of watercolor paints, inks, and salt, allowing the medium to dictate organic forms that echo the topologies of the natural world.
After studying art at Sheridan College, Laura spent over a decade honing her creative eye in the vibrant Toronto art scene before returning to the lakeside communities of her youth. This homecoming has deeply influenced her practice, infusing her work with a sense of nostalgia and a renewed appreciation for the subtle shifts in light and atmosphere specific to the Lake Huron coast. When she is not in her home studio experimenting with texture and flow, Laura runs her own interior house painting company, bringing her expert eye for color and design into the homes of her community.
